Worth a read….

Just going through my usual ritual of checking in on the world of soccer, catching up on the news, and seeing what people have been up to on Facebook. I ran across two articles which were interesting and worth a read.

The first one is on TechFlash, and speaks of the lessons learned when starting a new business and useful marketing practices. Here it is.

The second is from the New York Times, and the most recent Op-ed from Thomas Friedman, focusing on America’s position in the world today, and the continuing influence it has, even during such troubled times. A good read.

Teachstreet launches……

Teachstreet, a local Seattle company, launched their service this week. Teachstreet provides open profiles of people in the area that provide classes on a range of different things. Their mantra is ‘Find Local Teachers. Learn New Things’. They trawl the web, and create profiles for individuals. These people must then come to the site and claim their profile, and fill in relevant information. The service caught my eye when I first heard about it at the beginning of the year, as it offers a similar service to what we are creating. It is a nicely designed site, and it will be interesting to see how their service evolves…..

A great article for start-ups…..

As a founder of a brand new start up myself, I am always intrigued to read about people’s opinions and experiences with the Venture Capitalist world. This article is a good insight into the expectations of VC’s.

Throughout my life I have always been a listener. I always want to seek out information, ask questions, receive answers, absorb any material and any advice I can. But there are many people who are stubborn, close minded, and against any type of change. Flexibility is paramount. I like to think I know certain things, but there are many people who know more. Learning from the past, focusing on the present, and aligning yourself for the future will generate ongoing success.

Why not listen to people around you, tap into these resources, and enrich your base of knowledge and information?
